European Union
The European Union supports a large number of grants, funds and programs for projects in such areas as development cooperation, education, fraud prevention, employment, regional development and consumer issues.

German Investment and Development Company (DEG)
DEG, member of KfW Bankengruppe (KfW banking group), is one of the largest European development finance institutions for project and corporate financing. For more than 45 years, it has been financing and advising companies which set up business locations, establish subsidiaries or are active in joint ventures in developing and emerging-market countries. These might be German or international enterprises or companies from the partner countries. The investment projects must be profitable, environmentally and socially compatible and have a sustainable effect on the country’s development.

DEG invests in all sectors: agribusiness and food industry, infrastructure, manufacturing industry and services. Promoting the financial sector is another focus with the aim of developing it further and providing medium-sized enterprises with local access to investment capital. The current DEG portfolio is at 4.4 billion euros, spread across some 500 companies in about 80 countries.

As a development finance institution for the private sector and part of the German development cooperation, DEG is a reliable partner for investing enterprises on the one hand, and pays particular attention to the fact that the investments produce sustainable, positive effects for the developing countries, on the other.
