Universal Decleration of Human Rights (1948)
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an explicit affirmation of the United Nations’ commitment to the universal principles of human rights. It was adopted and promulgated on December 10, 1948, by the United Nations General Assembly, and represents the foundation of humanitarian international law.
Its central tenets are these: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Human dignity is inviolable.
