Beginning September 2010, The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) at the Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands) will start to offer a part-time PhD program entitled ‘The Responsible Organization’ or RESORG. The focus of this program is on the changing responsibilities of organizations and enterprises with regards to the growing importance of issues of sustainability, trust and transparency. The RESORG program, conducted entirely in English, will consist of four years, in which the first year will be devoted to education relevant to the field of study. In addition, participants will develop a research proposal which they will present and defend at the end of the first year. During the following three years, participants will carry out this research proposal and write their doctoral dissertations, which should result in an internationally recognized doctoral degree.
The NSM is looking for twelve candidates, from the Netherlands and abroad, prepared to spend two to three days a week pursuing their PhD in this discipline. Information about the second edition of the RESORG PhD program will be available on the RESORG website early 2011. There are no costs involved for those candidates taking part in the 2010 edition of the program. Participants will receive no payment or compensation for their participation.
The application process will involve a written statement and an oral interview. Upon admission, the NSM will provide the doctoral candidates with a workspace, supervision by prominent European academics in the field, and access to university facilities based on an independent study contract. The objective of the RESORG program is to create a close-knit Research Community, focusing on corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
